We are excited to announce that the 2017-18 school year marks the 21st year of Canton Connections!!

Canton Connection provides a safe and welcoming environment for children from CBPS two days a week from 3:45pm-5:45pm (on early release days from 1:20pm-3:45pm) for four eight-week sessions throughout the school year. The third session will run February 14th through April 5th of 2018.

Transportation is provided by the Town of Canton school bus from the Cherry Brook Primary School to Trinity Episcopal Church, 55 River Road (Rt. 179) in Collinsville. Trinity Church provides the space for Canton Connections in its Parish Hall.

There is a happy vibe as soon as the children arrive with students enjoying the following types of activities throughout their afternoon:

  • healthy and delicious snacks
  • new craft activities
  • fun art projects
  • learning life skills such as baking, sewing, knitting, etc.
  • organized games outside (if weather permits) or inside
  • help with homework
  • community service activities
  • learning to help others
  • making new friends

Our Program Director, Caryn Turek, has been with Canton Connections for since nearly the program’s inception. Caryn is assisted by Laura Crowley, as well as volunteer teen mentors, many of whom were former participants of Canton Connections. The teens are wonderful role models and the children benefit from the attention, encouragement, support, and guidance the teens provide. The teens want to give back to a program they fondly remember from grammar school.

We are looking forward to the coming school year, and as always, welcome parents to join our Board which meets one hour each month during the school year!
