Welcome To Canton Connections, Inc.

CANTON CONNECTIONS…

“A PLACE TO BE, A PLACE TO LEARN, A PLACE TO GROW, A PLACE TO MAKE FRIENDS AND BE A FRIEND, A PLACE TO BUILD CONFIDENCE IN YOU!”

Canton Connections, is the non-profit, after-school program (NOT the Canton Newsletter!) “where fun and learning meet.”

We are excited to announce that the 2017-18 school year marks the 20th year of Canton Connections!!

Canton Connection provides a safe and welcoming environment for children from CBPS two days a week from 3:45pm-5:45pm (on early release days from 1:20pm-3:45pm) for four eight-week sessions throughout the school year. The first session will run October 4th through November 30th of 2017.

Transportation is provided by the Town of Canton school bus from the Cherry Brook Primary School to Trinity Episcopal Church, 55 River Road (Rt. 179) in Collinsville. Trinity Church provides the space for Canton Connections in its Parish Hall.

There is a happy vibe as soon as the children arrive with students enjoying the following types of activities throughout their afternoon:

  • healthy and delicious snacks
  • new craft activities
  • fun art projects
  • learning life skills such as baking, sewing, knitting, etc.
  • organized games outside (if weather permits) or inside
  • help with homework
  • community service activities
  • learning to help others
  • making new friends

Our Program Director, Caryn Turek, has been with Canton Connections for since nearly the program’s inception. Caryn is assisted by Laura Crowley, as well as volunteer teen mentors, many of whom were former participants of Canton Connections. The teens are wonderful role models and the children benefit from the attention, encouragement, support, and guidance the teens provide. The teens want to give back to a program they fondly remember from grammar school.

“I actually grew up involved in Canton Connections after school program, and I loved it. I feel that it truly enhanced my child hood, and even today at 15 I remember the wonderful times I spent there…I would be more than overjoyed to volunteer each week, and hopefully offer the same love and support I got as a child when I went to Canton Connections.” – Canton Connections Alumni

We are looking forward to the coming school year, and as always, welcome parents to join our Board which meets one hour each month during the school year!

The deadline to register for the 1st session of Canton Connections for the 2017-18 school year is Wednesday, September 27th. Forms can be found under the Registration tab on the website.
