“A PLACE TO BE, A PLACE TO LEARN, A PLACE TO GROW, A PLACE TO MAKE FRIENDS AND BE A FRIEND, A PLACE TO BUILD CONFIDENCE IN YOU!”
Canton Connections, is the non-profit, after-school program (NOT the Canton Newsletter!) “where fun and learning meet.”
We have been providing a safe and welcoming environment for children in grades k-3 for two decades…and for the second year are welcoming kindergarten students!
Canton Connections is in session two days a week from 3:45pm-5:45pm (on early release days from 1:20pm-3:45pm) for four eight-week sessions throughout the school year. Transportation is provided by the Town of Canton school bus from the Cherry Brook Primary School to Trinity Episcopal Church, 55 River Road (Rt. 179) in Collinsville. Trinity Church provides the space for Canton Connections in its Parish Hall.
There is a happy vibe as soon as the children arrive!
- healthy and delicious snacks
- new crafts to learn
- art projects
- organized games outside (if weather permits) or inside
- help with homework
- learning to help others
Our Program Director, Caryn Turek, has been with Canton Connections for 16 years. Caryn is assisted by Laurie Crowley, as well as volunteer teen mentors, many of whom were former participants of Canton Connections. The teens are wonderful role models and the children benefit from the attention, encouragement, support, and guidance the teens provide. The teens want to give back to a program they fondly remember from grammar school.
“I actually grew up involved in Canton Connections after school program, and I loved it. I feel that it truly enhanced my child hood, and even today at 15 I remember the wonderful times I spent there…I would be more than overjoyed to volunteer each week, and hopefully offer the same love and support I got as a child when I went to Canton Connections.” – Canton Connections Alumni
The deadline to register for the 3rd session of Canton Connections for the 2016-17 school year is February 10th. Session Three will run February 15th through April 6th.
